I like 'em. A good, balanced starter skate for fitness. Bigger wheels give easy speed, but aren't so big that you feel unstable. 9-year-olds gawp at me in the street because of the eye-melting colourway. Aluminium frames are rock-solid, with good power transfer. They handle rough tarmac and street paving okay, and absolutely fly on smooth cycle paths. Fastening system is easy and comfortable.
Two downsides: 1) the top boot is not replaceable. Boo! It's soft, fits well, no pressure points, can comfortably skate for hours, but it's easily scuffed and ripped by falls. And beginners should be PRACTICING how to fall well with pads on... 2) If you want to remove the brake, you need to replace the axle as it's then too wide. But there are no replacement axles from K2. Why is this? I tried a generic axle and it's mad rattly, but will try adding a rubber washer to see if that helps. Seems mean not to offer replacement parts. |
